The tasks a Draughtsman-Mechanical is expected to perform include:
Creatiing and modifying2D mechanical engineering design using CAD system
Drafting of component drawings for manufacturing, assembly, sub-assembly, installation in detail
Complying with the health and safety regulations
Knowledge of procedures and information systems for retrieving and storing drawing data
Well versed with system variables that can be customized
Knowledge of applicable drafting standards/procedures
Knowledge of procedures and need for developing macros
Proficient in using appropriate projection for the drawing purpose
Well versed with the procedures for producing component, layout and/or assembly drawings
Knowledge of practices that make systems vulnerable to corruption and damage
Knowledge of basic set-up and operation of the computer system, and the peripheral devices that are used (eg. light pen, digitizer and tablet, printer or plotter, scanner)
Knowledge of how to access the specific computer drawing software to be used, and the use of software manuals and related documents to aid operation of the relevant drawing system
Well versed with basic principles of engineering manufacturing operations that are used to produce the drawn item
Knowledge of the functionality of the component being drawn, and its interrelationship with other components and assemblies
Knowledge of how to set up the viewing screen to show multiple views of the drawing to help with drawing creation
Knowledge of how to set up the drawing template parameters
Knowledge of how to access, recognize and use a wide range of standard components and symbol libraries from the CAD equipment
