The tasks a Coroner is expected to perform include:

Presiding over Coroner's Court and holding inquest on bodies of persons alleged to have died by violence or accident

Hearing testimony of doctor and any witnesses who may have been present at time of death

Giving permission to dispose of dead body

Authorising police to arrange post-mortem examination in civil hospital in suspected cases

Sending records of findings to appropriate authorities for further investigation and trial, if necessary

Skilled in studying cases related to death by violence or accident

In-depth knowledge of all the laws

Skilled in giving orders and issuing notices and summons

Ability to order for more probe into the case

Skilled in recording every minute detail related to the case
