The tasks a Registrar is expected to perform include:

Assisting the Chief or Principal Judge in all administrative matters relating to Court

Reviewing the plaints, petitions, appeals, etc. that are received from the parties

Ensuring that plaints are in proper order

Placing the papers before Chief Judge and admitting them to file on his orders

Issuing notices, summons, etc. to the parties concerned

Ensuring that relevant papers are filed and getting the Paper-Book prepared

Allotting the cases to Judges in consultation with Chief Judge

Examining the drafts of decrees and all the orders passed by Court

Issuing certified copies of judgement to Lower Courts and to High Courts in cases of appeals

Accepting affidavits, declarations, etc.

Allotting the work to the Deputy Registrars or Assistant Registrars

Ensuring that there is proper execution of work

Answering the correspondence addressed to court and keeping control over establishment as well as accounts of court

Exercising certain judicial powers such as granting of adjournment, deciding judicially certain matter, etc.

Proficient in ensuring that the court fee is properly levied

Ability to check that the necessary documents are attached

Proficient in ensuring that the appeal is competent and within time limit

Skilled in getting the Paper-Book prepared

Proficient in preparing the advance schedule of all the cases

Skilled in ensuring that drafts of decrees and all the orders passed by Court are done in the correct manner

Ability to timely issue the certified copies of judgement to both Lower Courts as well as the High Courts
