The tasks a Khatedar, Salt Production is expected to perform include:

Controlling raking operation in set of salt pans (called khata) and ensuring collection and stacking of salt

Patrolling salt bed reservoirs to check raking of scum off surface of brine

Directing salt pan/reclamation workers in removing of dirt, trash and other refuge from salt-beds and in scooping out of precipitated salt for bagging

Supervising work of bagging and transporting salt bags to warehouse

Skilled in raking and collecting salt

Knowledge of brine solution and removing scum
