The tasks of a Driver, Launch is expected to perform include:

Driving engines of launches and tug

Checking different parts of engine to ensure that it is in proper working order

Cleaning, greasing and oiling engine parts

Feeding engine with fuel (oil)

Ensuring that sufficient quantity of oil is stored in canes for use on way

Starting engine by regulating levers and by cranking

Increasing and decreasing speed or stops engine or reverses direction of boat as per signal given by Serang

Checking and regulating feed of fuel and refills oil, greases, etc.

Checking temperature of engine and slowing down or stopping engine if temperature is high

Supervising work of Oilers and Cleaners and diagnosing mechanical defects and undertaking minor repairs

Maintaining of logbook

Knowledge of driving engines

Knowledge of different parts of ship

Well-versed in starting engine

Ability to maintain log book

Will be updated

Ability to focus for long hours

Diligent and hardworking

Ability to follow instructions

Good communication skills

Physically fit

Mechanical ability

Ship usually sails for 5/6 days a week and works for 14/15 hours every day. This may vary from ship to ship
