The tasks an Assistant Shuttering Carpenter is expected to perform include: Handling and storing material
Making shutters for formwork
Erecting and dismantling different types of scaffoldings
Assembling and dismantling of conventional and system formwork for foundation, column, wall and tie beam
Performing tasks under health and safety regulations
Working knowledge of the norms for stacking materials and formworks Knowledge of workplace procedures and policies for manual and mechanical handling
Working knowledge of drawing and sketching relevant to the tasks
Knowledge of angle fillet, studs, support clits, various joints and their applications and sheathing materials
Expertise in using tools, equipment and process for erecting and dismantling different types of scaffolds
Knowledge and understanding of different types of knots, area calculation, footing, column and tie beam, types of couplers, properties of woods, ballies and pipes Understanding of how to identify, select and use basic dressing material, first aid and PPEs
Sound knowledge of accident, health, safety and evacuation procedures and their reporting
