Minimum 12th class pass in Science Certified training for Vision Technician (programme aligned to HSS/Q 3001 released by Healthcare Sector Skill Council)

No prior work experience is required

The tasks a Vision Technician is expected to perform include:

Scheduling appointments

Performing administrative and clinical duties

Maintaining medical records

Recording vital signs and medical histories

Preparing patients for examination

Dispensing ophthalmic prescriptions

Proficiency in identifying ophthalmic emergencies

Knowledge about the anxieties or concerns which patients or their attendants may experience and how to alleviate them

Knowledge of patient history to ocular and systemic disease

Well versed with the symptoms of common diseases affecting the visual system and the relationship between ocular/visual and non-ocular symptoms and diseases of the visual system and systemic disease

Knowledge about ocular/visual manifestations of systemic disease

Knowledge about the basic use of computers

Relevant professional qualifications
