One year of on-the-job experience under supervision/apprenticeship
The tasks a Micro Irrigation Technician is expected to perform include:
Designing the micro-irrigation system
Procuring the materials required for building the irrigation system
Installing, testing and commissioning the micro-irrigation system in the farm
Training the farmers to use the irrigation system
Ensuring uninterrupted water supply to the plants in the farm
Troubleshooting the problems which occur at the farm
Maintaining the micro-irrigation system
Familiar with basic crop cultivation practices Ability to design the layout of micro-irrigation system
Basic knowledge of crop parameters like the amount of water required etc.Knowledge of installing the micro-irrigation system
Familiar with the working of the tools used in installation Knowledge of types of pumps, piping networks, etc.Basic knowledge of hydraulics like pressure, flow, etc.Ability to train the farmers to use the system
Familiar with the maintenance guidelines of the system
