The tasks a Laboratory Assistant, Physical is expected to perform include:
Assisting in carrying out routine duties in a physical laboratory
Setting up the required apparatus and instruments in the correct position for conducting experiments and research work
Making the necessary electrical connections to equipment and instruments, as required
Recording routine and other observations as indicated by the instruments
Making necessary calculations
Removing the apparatus when not in use
Cleaning and maintaining the apparatus to maintain its good condition
Performing minor repairs to equipment and apparatus
Storing and maintaining the account of instruments, equipment, apparatus, etc., if required
Familiar with all the work activities in the physical laboratory
Skilled in doing necessary calculations
Knowledge of all the apparatus and instruments that are used and the exact position in which they should be placed
Proficient in carrying out the required electrical connections in the proper manner
Skilled in maintaining the apparatus in the proper manner when not in use
