The tasks an Advocate is expected to perform include:
Giving advice on legal matters
Filing for legal proceedings in Court of Law
Pleading and acting on behalf of client in court, income tax office, sales tax office, municipal office, tribunals, etc. on payment of fees
Studying the facts and available documents pertaining to the case
Deciding the line of action to be taken up in the case
Advising the client to procure evidence, further documents, etc. in support of case
Studying social customs and relevant acts, rules, rulings and precedents of courts of similar nature
Examining the witnesses in chamber and gathering full information regarding the case and preparing brief
Preparing and filing the plaint, complaint, written statement, affidavits, etc. on behalf of client or defends accused in the court of law
Examining and cross-examining the witnesses of both sides in court
Submitting exhibits in support of the case
Advising the party regarding course to be followed from time to time
Arguing the case for the client
Performing the conveyancing work such as preparing notices, bonds, wills and agreements for clients
Ability to manage large volume of information
Ability to think of unique solutions to problems
Skilled in preparing legal strategies
Skilled in performing extensive amount of research
Ability to comprehend pertinent information
In-depth knowledge of national and local laws, rights and duties
Proficient in symptomatic reading
Skilled in interpreting the constitutional laws and studying the cases accordingly
Skilled in drafting papers according to regulations
