The tasks a UI Developer is expected to perform include:
Creating complex user interfacesfor various applications
Knowledge about how to interpret and follow different design specifications
Good knowledge about designing basic program structures
Well versed with designing software products and applications
Familiar with different sources of information for help to design software products and specifications
Proficiency in using the range of equipment used to design software products and applications
Ability to identify common design defects and how to resolve these
Knowledge about current practice in the infrastructure design of software products and applications
Well versed in testing new products and applications
Relevant courses/certifications in computers/technology/ animation/graphics
Result oriented
Creative thinking
Effective communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently or in a team
It is a desk job
Work from home option maybe available
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
Local travelling is not part of this job role

Working hours
IT & ITES companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
Multinational companies work for 5 days a week
Working in shiftsmay predominantly not be available
Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

Current Scenario and Growth of IT Services Sector in India
The IT services segment is the largest contributor to the IT and ITES Industry, accounting for about 60% of industry revenues. India is one of the fastest-growing IT services markets in the world. It is also the world's largest sourcing destination,accounting for approximately 52 % of the US$ 124-130 billion market. The country's cost competitiveness in providing IT services continues to be its USP in the global sourcing market.
The major segments of the IT service sector are IT Consulting, Application Management, IS Outsourcing, Software development and support. The BFSI, telecom, retail, and manufacturing sectors account for major portion of the IT Services revenues.
Based on the trends witnessed in productivity and the likely growth potential of the IT and ITES industry, it is expected that the industry would result in an incremental employment of about 7.5 million persons directly by 2022. Out of which 3.6 million job opportunities will be in IT service sector.
In the IT Exports segment, a large portion of the workforce is currently engineers and MCAs over 80%. The proportion of graduates of science and other streams engaged in software development is expected to show significant increase from about 5% to 10% currently to about 15% to 20%.
Maximum number of job openings are available in IT & ITES companies across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.
