The tasks an

Environment Scientist (Including Health)is expected to perform include:

Conducting research on pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of the population

Taking action based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, food, soil, water and other sources

Analyzing data to determine validity, quality and scientific significance

Analyzing data to interpret correlations between human activities and environmental effects

Collecting, synthesizing and analyzing data derived from pollution emission measurements, meteorological and mineralogical information

Conducting environmental audits, inspections and investigations of violations

Designing and directing studies to obtain technical environmental information about planned projects

Determining data collection methods to be employed in research projects and surveys

Developing methods to minimize the impact of production processes on the environment

Evaluating violations or problems discovered during inspections in order to determine appropriate regulatory actions

Studying and assessing industrial production, environmental legislation and physical, biological and social environments

Providing advice on the development and prosecution of regulatory cases

Investigating and reporting on accidents affecting the environment

Monitoring effects of pollution and land degradation

Monitoring environmental impacts of development activities

Knowledge of environmental policies and legislation

In-depth knowledge of environmental chemistry

Skilled in clinical and laboratory techniques

Knowledge of different vegetation and habitats

Knowledge of current developments and technologies

Knowledge of scientific methods for conducting surveys

Knowledge of the principles of ecology and environment

Familiar with determinants of air and noise pollution, water pollution andterrestrial pollution

Skilled in remote sensing and other computer application

Equipped to make policies on pollution control and waste management

Knowledge of principles of nature conservation and environmental management
