The tasks a Farm Overseer, Crop Production is expected to perform include:

Supervising operations in connection with growing, harvesting and marketing of agricultural produce, fruits, etc.

Monitoring maintenance of machinery, implements and live-stock under directions of manager

Assisting manager in examining soil, irrigational facilities, marketing, etc. in determining type of fruit or crop to be grown

Assisting the manager in selection and purchase of seed,fertilizers and equipment

Supervising operations of ploughing,manure application,sowing, watering, weeding and hoeing

Supervising activities like making of channels for irrigation, preparing manure, grafting and budding of plants, harvesting, threshing, winnowing, etc.

Supervising bagging, storing and transporting of the produce to the market

Controlling field staff on the farm

Assisting the manager in preparation of cost and production statement, payment of wages, etc.

Knowledge of maintaining records of cost, sale and other accounts

Basic knowledge of conducting research and organizing demonstrations regarding plantation of various crops

Basic knowledge of arithmetic and accounting

Efficient in hiring and supervising workers

Knowledge of soil types and climatic conditions required for different crops

Familiar with nutrient management in soil

Basic knowledge of integrated insect, pest and disease management for crop

Familiar with irrigation management

Familiar with harvest and post-harvest management
