The tasks a Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor is expected to perform include:

Counselling handicapped individuals to provide vocational rehabilitation services

Interviewing and evaluating handicapped applicants

Conferring with medical and professional personnel to determine type and degree of handicap, eligibility for service and feasibility of vocational rehabilitation

Accepting or recommending acceptance of suitable candidates

Determining suitable job or business consistent with applicant's desires, aptitudes and physical, mental and emotional limitations

Planning and arranging for applicant to study or train for job

Assisting applicant with personal adjustment through rehabilitation programme

Aiding applicant in obtaining medical and social services during training

Promoting and developing job openings and placing qualified applicant in employment

Specialising in type of disability, such as mental, hearing and visual impairment

Skilled in interviewing and assessing handicapped applicants

Skilled in determining the level of disability in an applicant and to proceed with the treatment according to that

Ability to motivate a physically disabled applicant and suggesting best career options for them

Knowledge of the job openings for disabled candidates and assisting them in apply for that job
