The tasks that a Manager, Fast Food Service is expected to perform include:

Planning and organizing accommodation, catering and other hotel services

Managing franchised or independent fast food or wholesale prepared food establishment

Directing, coordinating and participating in preparation, cooking, wrapping or packing types of food served or prepared by establishment

Collecting of monies from in-house or take-out customers or assembling food orders for wholesale customers

Coordinating activities of workers engaged in keeping business records, collecting and paying accounts, ordering or purchasing supplies and delivering of foodstuffs to wholesale or retail customers

Interviewing, hiring and training personnel

Proficient in ensuring customer satisfaction

Knowledge of various food items that are served in the establishment

Well-versed with database server

Proficient in managing staff and disciplining them

Well-versed with preparation process of servings

Proficient in making strategic decisions in case of delays

Working hours

Hotels usually work for 6/7 days a week and 11/13 hours everyday. This may vary from hotel to hotel, restaurants to restaurants Shift system is available

Overview of Indian Tourism & Hospitality Sector

The contribution of the entire travel and tourism sector in India to Gross Domestic Product is estimated to rise from 8.6% (USD 117.9 billion) in 2010 to 9.0% (USD 330.1 billion) by 2020. Between 2010 and 2019 the demand for travel and tourism in India is expected to grow annually by 8.2%, which will place India at the third position in theworld.

Hotel Industry in India has witnessed tremendous boom in recent years. Hotel Industry is inextricably linked to the tourism industry and the growth in the Indian tourism industry has fuelled the growth of Indian hotel industry. The arrival of low cost airlines and the associated price wars have given domestic tourists a host of options. The 'Incredible India' destination campaign and the recently launched 'Atithi Devo Bhavah' (ADB) campaign have also helped in the growth of domestic and international tourism and consequently the hotel industry.

There are approximately 1.2 million hotel rooms in the country. However, the star category of hotels account for only 7% of the total (80,000 rooms). According to a study, there was a need of approximately 2.9 million hotel rooms in India and this need has risen to 6.6 million rooms in 2020. The four star and five star hotels in the country, including the heritage hotels, provide employment to 162 people per 100 rooms on an average, as compared to 122 in one, two and three star hotels.

Almost 7,50,000 people in India are employed in hotels within India. Around 1 lakh people are employed in motels on highways. The employment vacancies in the hotel industry are forecasted to increase to 3.5 million by 2020. The major portion of employees, approximately 60%, are working in Food & Beverage sector, Kitchen and Housekeeping. Most of them are young and less than 40 years of age. All these factors indicate steady growth of job opportunities for Manager, Fast Food Service and other professionals in this sector.
