Water Transportation Workers maintain and operate vessels that take people and cargo to and from foreign ports across the ocean, to domestic ports along the coasts, and through inland waterways. They may command, coordinate, and supervise operations of water vessels and ships such as ferryboats and tugboats, or activities of crew engaged in maintaining and operating boilers, engines, deck machineries, and sanitary, refrigeration, and electrical equipment abroad ship, look for obstacles in path of vessel, assist in navigation, turn wheel or bridge, measure depth of water or use emergency equipments on direction of pilot, or captain.
