The responsibilities of a mathematical scientist are dependent on the nature and needs of the business, but broadly they include collecting data and performing research to invent, develop and evaluate stronger and better technologies and theories.
Based on the specific role, professionals in this pathway may be required to analyze statistical data and construct probability tables, conduct research in fundamental or applied mathematics, formulate and apply mathematical models to assist managerial functions, develop or apply theories for collecting and interpreting data, transforming raw data into meaningful information among other functions.
