Health Technologists and Technicians

Health Technologists and Technicians include professionals who provide essential medical services like preparing and conducting laboratory and diagnostic tests, keeping detailed medical records, administering emergency medical services, providing support in dietary, psychiatric, ophthalmic services and in surgeries, pharmacy etc and assisting with prosthetics, hearing aids etc . Their duties vary according to their areas of specialization. While technicians often perform basic services, technologists are more qualified to assist physicians and surgeons, and often perform more complex services than the technicians. Additionally, technicians may receive training by technologists and work under their supervision. Veterinary technologists and technicians are also included in this pathway.
