A degree in English Literature and Language prepares you for a future in teaching, journalism, and other arts and humanities careers. A Literature degree will entail reading a diverse range of text, including prose, poetry, drama etc, and learning to analyze and critique it. A Language degree will focus on the nuances and workings of the English language in all its forms. An English degree will give equal focus to both aspects.
A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English will take three or four years, while a Master of Arts (MA) will take a further one or two years. Advanced courses like M.Phil and Ph.D can also be undertaken in any area of specialization.
