The tasks a Testing Technician Active Components is expected to perform include:

Checking that the assembled and encapsulated component functions as per specifications

Operating the automated tester or manually checking the component functions on jigs

Analyzing causes for failure

Knowledge of basic electronics and active components Well-versed with different types of components, e.g., diodes, transistors, ICs, LED Well-versed with different jigs for testing different functions Adept at test machine operations and upkeep Proficient in computer operations and program loading

Knowledge of safety procedures while operating hazardous tools and equipment Knowledge of emergency procedures such as fire accidents and fire safety education Knowledge of disposal of hazardous chemicals, tools and materials following prescribed environmental norms or as per company policy

This industry has witnessed a robust growth of 17.3 per cent since 2009 and today boasts of a 5.1 percent share of the global pie. Considering the continued growth momentum, the Indian semiconductor design market is expected to touch US$ 14.5 billion in 2015.

According to the "Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics & IT Hardware Sector (2022)" report, the Electronic Components sector is expected to grow by 19% till 2022 which is going to be higher than the GDP in India. The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India has listed Active Components as one of the top 14 sub-sectors with a high potential for employment. This will have a positive impact for the job roles falling under this sector.

According to the IMaCS Analysis, the human resource requirement in the Electronic Components segment has been projected to grow from 1,79,000 in 2012 to 8,34,000 in 2022 that is an increment of 6,55,000 resources.
