The Government of India has set up Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTPs), Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and has brought about a favourable climate for foreign direct investment (FDI). It has also increased liberalization and relaxed tariffs to promote growth in the sector. In addition, the government's National Electronics Policy 2012 aims to increase exports in the electronic system design and manufacturing sector from US$ 5.5 billion to US$ 80 billion by 2020.
