The tasks a Cell Room Attendant Chemical is expected to perform include:

Tending electrolytic cells used in manufacture of caustic soda and chlorine

Inspecting the cells to ascertain that liquid levels, brine flows, cell pressure and current are maintained

Replacing any damaged tubing and washing cell surfaces with water or acid to clean them

Measuring specific gravity of caustic soda solution produced by cell group and adjusting cell operation accordingly

Competent in tending electrolytic cells

Knowledgeable about properties of caustic soda and chlorine

Proficiency in inspecting cells

Well-versed with chemical cell room operations

Competent in measuring specific gravity of chemicals

Will be updated

Diligent and hardworking

Good observation skills

Good hand-eye co-ordination

Eye for detail

It requires one to be on their toes

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is not a part of this job role

Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

Indian chemical industry generates around 70,000 commercial goods ranging from plastic to toiletries and pesticides to beauty products. Indian chemical industry is expected to register a growth of 8-9% in the next decade and is expected to double its share in global chemical industry to 5-6% by 2021.

Even though this industry is capital and technology intensive, the sector is a major avenue for large scale employment.
