The tasks a Tablet Machine Operator, Tabletting Operator (Plastics) is expected to perform include:
Tending the tablet machine that compresses plastic powders into pellets or biscuits of specified weight and shape for use in moulding plastic products
Setting appropriate punch on cylinder and die on die setting plate
Feeding hopper of machine with desired blend of plastic powders
Opening the gate valve to control flow of powders from hopper into machine
Turning steam valve to regulate temperature of machine according to ammeter gauge, and adjusting die pressure to attain specified hardness of pill
Knowledge of examining compressed tablets to ensure that they are of required weight, size and shape
Well-versed with adjusting pressure to achieve required hardness of pill
Adept at regulating temperature by operating steam valve

Overview of the Chemical & Petrochemical Sector in India
Global chemical market size was estimated at USD 3.9 trillion in 2013 and is expected to grow at 3-4% per annum over the next 5 years to reach USD 4.7 trillion by 2018. India currently accounts for approximately 3% of the world chemical market. The Indian chemical and petrochemical industry expanded in 2013 despite weakness in key export markets and subdued growth in the domestic market. The Indian chemical and petrochemical industry currently stands at USD 118 billion and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8% for the next five years.
Bulk chemicals form the largest sub-segment of Indian chemical industry with 40% market share whereas the specialty chemical with 19% market share is the fastest growing segment. Together, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh account for more than 50% of Gross Value Add (GVA) and Gross Output of the chemical and petrochemical industry in India.

The current per capita consumption of products of chemical industry in India is about 1/10th of the world average.
