Printing In-Charge

Minimum B.Tech./B.E. Textiles

Preferably minimum experience of 10 years in relevant field

The tasks a Printing Master (Textile) is expected to perform include:

Organizing, directing and supervising the printing of various designs on cloth

Ensuring the quality, output and smooth running of printing process

Arranging for supply of necessary chemicals and dyes

Checking the mixing of colours as per the required proportions for printing purpose

Examining the printed sample to check for the desired quality

Performing chemical tests to ensure the fastness of printing

Ensuring that regular supply or the required quantity of cloth is there in the department

Getting the printing rollers with required engraving of pattern fitted in printing machine

Supervising the work of printers to ensure quality and output

Maintaining the record of the job orders completed along with the data of the batches of colours used

Checking the operations of printing machines to ensure optimum output

Making the arrangements for repair of defects in machines or parts

Familiar with the process involved in the printing designs on cloth

Skilled in supervising the printing process

Knowledge of colour theory and eye for checking on spectrophotometer

Proficiency in logistics management

Knowledge of the latest printing technology

Equipped to check the goods for the required quality

Knowledge of quality chemical tests done for checking various parameters

Skilled in maintaining optimization of the output

Textiles and Handloom Industry in India

The Indian Brand Equity Foundation in their report on the Handloom industry of India have stated that the Indian handloom industry demonstrates the richness and diversity of Indian culture. Along with this fact the sector employs about 4.3 million people and this makes it the second-largest employment provider for the rural population in India after agriculture.

The export of handloom products from India in the period 2013-14 was estimated around US$ 372 million. In the period 2013-14, the US was the major exporter of handloom products from India estimated at US$ 118.87 million followed by UK and Germany at US$ 6.26 million and US$ 25.17 million respectively. When it comes to the efforts by the government, The Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), a statutory body has been constituted under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It aims to promote the export of all handloom products like fabrics, home furnishings, carpets and floor coverings, etc. With all these figures in consideration, it is safe to say that the demand for a Printing Master (Textile) is there in the present and will surely increase in the coming years.
