The tasks a Parcher (Food Grain) is expected to perform include:

Roasting wheat, gram, maize, peanuts and other food grains

Putting the requisite quantity of sand in the pan and placing the pan in a hot oven

Allowing the sand to heat up in the pan

Inserting the product in the pan and mixing it with hot sand for roasting, using a long metal ladle

Removing the pan from the oven when the product is properly roasted

Sifting the roasted product from the sand using a sieve and allowing the sand to fall in the pan

Collecting the product and repeating the process till all the food grain is parched

Maintaining the proper temperature of the oven by regulating the fuel

Preparing the grain for roasting by soaking it in water and then drying it

Knowledge of safety and hygiene regulations

Knowledge of the temperature required for parching food grains

Skilled in soaking and drying grains before parching

Skilled in the entire process of food parching
