Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Field

Minimum experience of 4-8 year in relevant field

The tasks a Tool Setter, Automatic Machine is expected to perform include:

Settingvarious types of precision metal cutting tools inthe automatic machines

Studying drawings and otherspecifications of metal parts or articles to be made

Selecting appropriate tools and securely fixing them in automatic machines in order ofsequence of operations

Fastening metalaccurately in machine using chuck, jig or fixture, as required

Operating different tools manually to cut metal according to specification

Ensuringprecision measuring by instruments that regulates feed of metal and movement of tools

Setting locking devicesand other controls after each completed operation

Cutting trial pieceaccording to settings done to check accuracyof each operation

Resetting controls,guides, etc. to ensure accuracy

Setting machine fee, speed and flow of coolant and hands over

Basic knowledge of the working on the automatic machines

Skilled in measuring dimensions of the final product

Skilled in operating different tools manually

Familiar with development of new tools for specificoperations

Working hours

As per IBEF (Indian Brand Equity Foundation), India is the fourth largest producer of crude steel and the largest producer of soft iron in the world.Presently, the Indian steel industry employs around 500,000 people while the per capita consumption in 2013 stood at around 57.8 kilograms. it is said that these numbers are expected to rise with increased industrialization throughout the country.The Government has set up an inter ministerial group (IMG) in the Steel Ministry for effective coordination and expediting implementation of various investment projects in the steel sector.

The demand for steel in India is expected to rise by 4-5 per cent this year and will touch a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15 per cent after FY17.Also, the recently released Union Budget 201415 has paved the way for the development of the Indian steel sector with proposals for the construction of 100 smart cities.

Considering all this it is safe to state that this sector is bound to increase in the coming time and so the job profile of a Setter, Automatic Machine will witness a lot of growth in the future.
