Certified training for Specialized Sewing Machine Operator (programme aligned to AMH/Q 2301 released by Apparel Made?Ups Home Furnishing)

Minimum experience of 1-2 years in stitching and embroidery work

The tasks a Specialized Sewing Machine Operator is expected to perform include:

Operating the specialized sewing machine to sew different kinds of stitches on fabric/garments in the apparel industry

Making different types of stitches using a specialized sewing machine

Making required adjustments so as to ensure the stitching work matches the specification

Identifying and using all the materials required, considering the decided specifications

Knowledge of fabrics/apparels and garments

Knowledge of the types of fabrics/apparels that require stitching by hand or by machine

Skilled in using the specification chart

Familiar with the range of techniques most suited to the different types of apparel

Knowledge of different apparels and their parts

Knowledge of the common factors that affect stitching

Familiar with the different types of needles and the broken needle procedure

Knowledge of thread thickness, shades, sizes and parts of a needle

Knowledge of adjusting the top tension

Knowledge of the attachments used on the machine

Knowledge of garment parts (pockets, fronts, backs, collars, cuffs,

sleeves, etc.)

Skilled in assembling different garment parts to make the final product

Aware of the problems encountered when stitching different types of apparels

Familiar with the different types of defects

Knowledge of the maintenance, adjustment and replacement of worn parts on machines

that are required for different types of attachment

Knowledge of different types of stitches (stitch classes) and different types

of hems and seams

Knowledge of the types of stitches (overlock, flatlock, etc.)/hems/finish and the purpose they serve

Skilled in inspecting stitched products against their specifications

Familiar with the different ways of minimizing waste

Knowledge of the importance of running maintenance and regular cleaning

Good eyesight

Good eye-hand-leg co-ordination

Manual dexterity

Training in sewing operations

Will be updated

It is a desk job
