The tasks a Watch Repairer is expected to perform include:

Cleaning repairing and adjusting clocks, watches and time pieces for accurate time keeping

Examining watch pieces or clock mechanism using magnifying eyepiece to locate defects

Opening watch and disassembling components or parts of watch such as main spring, hair spring and balance staff, etc.

Cleaning part with benzene or other cleaning solution using special brushes

Checking jewels, spring, pinion joints, pivots, balance staff, etc. and determining their serviceability

Repairing or replacing broken or damaged parts and assembling watch step by step in proper sequence ensuring desired performance of each component

Lubricating pivots and operating components with thin special type of vile and soaks extra oil using pith sticks

Winding watch, observing performance and setting it with chronometer or accurate watch to regulate timing

Making necessary adjustments after set period and regulating timing both in horizontal and vertical positions to ensure accurate time keeping

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Ability to monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems

Well-versed with performing regular adjustment and maintenance on timepieces, watch cases, and watch bands

Knowledge of fabricating parts for watches and clocks, using small lathes and other machines

Proficient in using special screw drivers, tweezers, pincers, and other watch making tools

Knowledge of operating cleaning machine to clean delicate parts in petrol and special solutions
