Controller Precision Machine Operator

The tasks a Mechanic, Precision Instrument General is expected to perform include:

Testing, repairing, overhauling and assembling various precision instruments and their parts for efficient performance

Examining instrument for defects

Dismantling components and cleaning them in appropriate fluid such as petrol, kerosene, etc. to find out extent of damage or wear & tear to parts

Removing minor defects of parts by grinding, filing, drilling, etc.

Replacing worn out and damaged parts

Adjusting position of various parts using screwdriver, spanner, etc.

Assembling instrument to form complete unit

Making simple electrical connections, soldering contact points

Testing performance either by visual observation or by conducting simple electrical and mechanical tests

Ensuring that repaired or assembled instrument conforms to prescribed efficiency

Knowledge of how to operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments and tools

Proficient in monitoring the feed and speed of machines

Ability to measure, examine and test completed products for defects

Well-versed with performing modern production techniques in a machine shop

Ability to make new components and assemble new instruments

Knowledge of any particular type of instrument like mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, optical, orthopaedic etc.

Working hours
Handicrafts and carpets units usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from unit to unit

Occupational hazards may include musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory disorders, injuries, eyesight problems, nerve disorders, skin problems, burns, vision and hearing impairment, etc.

Health risks include exposure to toxic chemicals in art materials, exposure to harmful levels of volatile solvents used in paint and coating, sharp crafting tools, exposure to heavy metals, radiation and dust, lifting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive tasks, confined spaces, inhalation of asbestos during sanding, etc.

For freshers - INR 9,000 to INR 12,000 per month

For candidates with 2-4 years of experience or more - INR 14,000 to INR 16,000 per month
