Maintain a valid heavy vehicle driving license

Knowledge of safety procedures to be followed

Proficient in co-ordinating activities with the fire fighters during emergency

Knowledge of all modern amenities in the fire vehicle

Fire Stations in India

"Fire" is a State subject and fire stations are mandatory around multi hazards zones. When it comes to cities, considering the population the required number is set as per the 12thschedule and it comes under the domain of municipalities.

As per Standing Fire Advisory Council norms, there should be in all 70,868 fire stations butthe current data shows that there are only 1705 fire stations with 6026 fire tenders/vehicles manned by total 49,769 fire professionals. Further, there are 284 fire stations operating in industrial sectors with a fleet of 1064 appliances and vehicles of various specifications manned by 13,843 fire personnel. This means that there is a shortage of 97.59% fire stations, 96.28% firemen and 80.04 % fire tenders and rescue vehicles.Therefore, there is a lot of scope for growth and employment in this sector in future, including jobs like Drivers,Fire Brigade Vehicles.
