Garment-maker Clothing Designer

The tasks a Designer is expected to perform include: Developing, designing and making pattern for new styles

Studying existing styles

Developing new ideas and drawing out full scale drawing of garments on paper

Marking and cutting out paper patterns of different parts of garments

Getting cloth cut according to paper patterns

Getting sample garment stitched as required

Trying garment on model and making changes in pattern, if necessary

Making specifications and supervising production

Well-versed with creating/visualizing an idea and producing a design by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD)Knowledge of sourcing, selecting and buying fabrics

Understanding how to negotiate with customers and suppliers

Ability to select fabrics, embellishments, colours, or style for each garment or accessory

Working hours

Working hours are for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company Shift system maybe available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
