The tasks a Mechanic Precision Instrument Electrical is expected to perform include:

Repairing and setting electrical parts of precision instruments such as megger, voltmeter, ammeter, condensers, galvanometers, etc., to high accuracy for recording correct readings by reviving, replacing and making necessary adjustments

Studying drawings, circuit diagrams and other specifications and examining instrument visually to locate any apparent loose connection, short circuits, etc.

Dismantling instrument using insulated screw drivers, pliers, special spanners, etc.

Checking components, insulation wiring, fittings and other features with precision mechanical and electrical measuring instruments to locate wear and tear, short circuits and other defects

Cleaning any fluid used in instrument and their various parts using special brushes

Checking gear shell, bearing jewels and other operating parts and repairs or replacing worn out and damaged ones

Assembling parts, replacing insulation and making electrical wiring and connections according to diagram and prescribed specification

Examining assembled or repaired instrument by standard tests, making necessary adjustments and ensuring correct reading and desired performance within prescribed limits

Sealing cut-outs, meters, etc. to avoid manipulation

Winding coils, setting new resistance and performing other electrical functions, if required

Skilled in repairing all kinds of electric instruments

Ability to keep the instrument clean and examine it

Ability to read blueprints and other specifications of technical drawings

Skilled in dismantling and assembling different instruments
