Overview of an electricians earnings today

Construction is a huge industry creating 45 million jobs either directly or indirectly among various classes of people of our country. The Human Resource requirement in this sector is estimated to be 13.98 million for the period 2013-2017 and 31.13 million for the period 2013-2022.

The starting income of an unskilled electrician, who may just have basic education, is around Rs 10,000 per month compared to an engineering graduate, who may earn Rs 4000 or more. When observed it is found that electrician's salary rises over a period of time to about Rs 18,000 to Rs. 20,000 in five years, and around Rs 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 in eight years or so. So generally speaking in about eight to ten years, the electrician would be earning a comfortable amount of Rs 25,000 per month.

Today, there is severe shortage of workers like Fitters, Welders, Electricians and Plumbers. It is observed that for a requirement of 10 electricians today, hardly two are available. Large infrastructure companies like Godrej and Tata Steel are always in need of skilled Welders, Fitters, Plumbers and Electricians on large scale. The requirement for electrical, plumbing and other construction installation activities is expected to increase from 1.29 million in the year 2017 to 1.66 million in the year 2022.
