Future Trends for Electronics and IT Hardware Sector in India

The Indian Electronics and IT Hardware sector has 6 key segments, namely Consumer Electronics, Industrial Electronics, IT Hardware, Telecommunication Equipment, Electronic Components, and Strategic Electronics. Consumer Electronics and Telecom Equipment are the largest segments with about 27% share each in total production.

The consumption of electronic in India is expected to reach US$ 400 billion by 2020. The steady increase in the Private Final Consumption Expenditure (PFCE) on Home Appliances will drive the consumption and production of Electronics and IT Hardware in India, with major contributors being Computers, Consumer Electronics, and Telecom. It is expected that Indian Electronic and IT hardware sector will grow at a CAGR of about 17% till 2022.

The market of consumer electronics is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10 to 12 percent in future. Consumer electronic comprises of products like television, audio and video system, set top box, washing machine, air conditioners, etc. Television segment is the largest contributor to the growth of consumer electronics segment. While flat TV accounts for 55% of the domestic TV production, hi-end products like LCD TV, plasma TV, etc. are gaining popularity in India.

Telecommunication Equipment and IT Hardware are the fast growing segments with CAGR of 21% and 29% respectively. These segments have witnessed high growth rates due to the advent of IT and growth in the Indian Telecom Industry. Looking at a huge potential in Indian Electronics and IT Hardware sector, large number of foreign companies have started investing in India, resulting in high growth and employment generation in this sector.

The human resource directly employed in the industry is estimated to increasing from the current level of 0.9 million to over 4 million by 2022. This would translate to an incremental human resource requirement of about 3 million to 3.2 million in the entire industry, and about 1.4 million in manufacturing function by 2022. Thus, with the growth in electronic and IT hardware manufacturing in India, demand for Wireman Control Panel is bound to increase.
