Lino Operator

The tasks a Lino Operator is expected to perform include:

Operating the keyboard (similar to that of a typewriter) of a lino-type setting or inter-type setting machine, to cast the lines of type called slugs

Pressing the keys of the keyboard to assemble the matrices to form the words and lines following the manuscript rigidly

Breaking up the words if necessary at the end of each line

Pressing the button at the end of each composed line to enable the machine to cast a whole line of type automatically

Casting new lines, removing errors pointed out by the Proof Reader

Knowledge of operating the keyboard

Proficient in ensuring that the Barman cleans the machine and space band

Well-versed in distributing the matrices into the magazine of the machine and keeping the metal pot full

Knowledge of adjusting the machine according to the size of type and length of line to be formed

Will be updated

It needs one to be on their toes

Working hours
Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from company to company

Current and Future Market Trend of the Printing Sector in India

The Indian printing industry, growing at a rate of 12% per annum, comprises more than 250,000 big, small and medium printers. The current annual turnover of the industry is more than INR 50,000 crores (USD 11 billion). The industry has undergone a revolutionary change in the last 15 years.
