Lock Mender

The tasks a Locksmith is expected to perform include:

Fitting, assembling, installing and repairing locks

Finalizing the parts by accurately sizing components, setting levers, riveting, etc.

Studying design, sketch or model of locks to be made

Checking for accuracy of fit by supplementary tooling to remove defects

Assembling and fitting parts in frame and reverting body to make the complete lock

Testing the completed lock for locking and unlocking with appropriate key

Dismantling defective locks, repairing or replacing damaged parts

Setting the defective parts right by setting or filing levers, riveting, etc.

Opening jammed locks using special scriber to release levers and springs

Making parts of locks by hand

Knowledge of different components/parts of a lock

Aware of different types of locks

Skilled in reading blueprints or design charts of locks to be made

Skilled in accurately sizing components required in repairing locks

Proficient in studying design, sketch or model of locks

Skilled in testing the finished lock for locking and unlocking with the new key

Skilled in making parts of locks by hands

Proficient in using special scriber to release levers and springs in case of jammed locks

Working hours

Working hours are for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
