Overview of Sandalwood Industry in India

The scope for cultivation for sandalwood is very encouraging, since there is a wide gap between supply and demand. Known in commerce as Indian sandalwood, sandalwood has two primary uses - extraction of an essential oil (sandal oil), and as a source of wood for carving. India and Indonesia are the two major producers and exporters. The United States and France are the two largest importers. India accounts for about 90% of sandalwood oil production in the world.

With the rising demand of this wood, many farmers have started cultivating sandalwood. As more area comes under cultivation of this plant, the demand for Sandalwood Extractors will also increase.
