The tasks a Computer System Hardware Analyst is expected to perform include:

Analyzing data processing requirements to plan data processing system that will provide system capabilities required for projected workloads, and planning layout and installation of new system or modification of existing system

Conferring with data processing and project managers to obtain information on limitations and capabilities of existing system and capabilities required for data processing projects and projected work load

Evaluating factors such as number of departments serviced by data processing equipment, reporting formats required, volume of transactions, time requirements and cost constraints, and need for security and access restrictions to determine hardware configurations

Proficient in analyzing information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for type of computers and peripheral equipment, or modifications to existing equipment and system, that will provide capability for proposed project or work load, efficient operation, and effective use of allotted space

Adept with entering data into computer terminal to store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements

Knowledge of specifying power supply requirements and configuration

Well-versed with recommending purchase of equipment to control dust, temperature, and humidity in area of system installation

Knowledge of training users to use new or modified equipment

Knowledge of monitoring functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications

Specialization in one area of system application or in one type or make of equipment

Current Trends of IT & ITeS Sector in India

In 2012, the Indian IT & ITeS sector crossed the US$100 billion milestone; it grew by almost 1,000 times in the last two decades on the basis of cost arbitration, skill availability and government support. The sector is estimated to grow at an 11.5 percent CAGR over 2008-2013 to reach US$108.4 billion. The IT & ITeS industry is expected to reach US$300 billion by 2020 driven by rising demand in domestic market, along with increasing IT Services exports. The CAGR for 2013-2020 is estimated to be 16 percent.

In the IT Exports segment, a large portion of the workforce is currently engineers and MCAs over 80%. The proportion of graduates of science and other streams engaged in software development is expected to show significant increase from about 5% to 10% currently to about 15% to 20%.The Indian IT and ITES Industry would record about US $ 220 billion in exports and US $ 60 billion domestically by 2022, totaling to about US $ 260 billion growing at a CAGR of 12.8%.

The sector provides indirect employment to about 9.5 million people. The sector is expected to employ about 5.1 million professionals directly in FY22 and exports are likely to continue to dominate. This would definitely lead to an increase in employment opportunities of Computer System Hardware Analyst across towns and cities in India.
