The tasks a Hydraulic Engineer is expected to perform include:

Directing the construction of power projects for control and use of water

Designing hydraulic engineering projects

Computing and estimating rates of water flow

Specifying the type and size of equipment like pumps, turbines and pressure valves and surge tanks

Supervising the activities of workers who are engaged in dredging, digging cut-offs, placing jetties to stabilise streams, etc.

Co-ordinating the construction of artificial canals, conduits and mains to distribute and transport water

Building laboratory models to study construction and flow problems

Knowledge of fluid power engineering calculations used for hydraulic system

Skilled in using servo hydraulics pneumatics

Familiar with hydraulic system design and conversion in detail drawings

Skilled in GA drawings, BOM, hydraulic circuit and solenoid chart

Knowledge of stacker and reclaimer

Proficient in dealing with hydraulic systems, cylinders, motor and flow control valve
