Minimum 0-1 years of experience required

The tasks an Assembler, Turbine and Steam Engine is expected to perform include:

Assembling the turbine and steam engine from the finished components by further tooling

Examining the drawings and specifications

Checking the parts and components to rectify faults, if any and ensuring accuracy

Checking alignments, scraping bearings, examining and cleaning parts

Setting the glands and packing while fitting to prevent leakage of steam

Checking the condenser and fitting the steam pipes according to the drawing and insulating them by lagging to prevent loss of heat

Fitting the lubrication pipes and setting them to order

Adjusting the valves, clearance, etc. as prescribed

Setting the timing and couples turbine with the alternator or steam engine with the generator

Adjusting the governor, starting the turbine or steam engine as appropriate and balancing them for power generation

Drilling holes, checking and adjusting boiler fittings, etc., if necessary

Knowledge of operating the turbine steam engine

Skilled in assembling and fitting the machinery parts according to the specifications

Ability to carry the assembling operations following all the health and safety measures

Ability to understand blueprints and engineering drawings

Skilled in troubleshooting the machine

Knowledge of the adequate ways of examining the machine and its parts for proper functioning

Familiar with all the cleaning methods in order to clean the shafts, pistons, etc.

Ability to improvise and make alterations in the fitting, if necessary

Skilled in testing the engine once the assembling and fitting process is completed
