Dry Cleaning Machine Operator

Minimum Any Graduate

Minimum 2 5 years of experience in relevant field

The tasks a Dry Cleaner, Machine is expected to perform include:

Cleaning and disinfecting woollen and silken garments, textile furnishings and other similar articles with chemical solution or petroleum product by operating power-driven cleaning machine

Placing articles in drum of machine and fastening cover

Operating valves to feed chemical solution into the machine

Stopping rotation of drum and draining off solution

Removing articles from machine for pressing by machine or ironing by Presser

Filtering dirty cleaning fluid

Sorting articles according to colour and condition and type of material

Removing spots or stains by rubbing them with solvent

Examining dry-cleaned articles for any defect or damage

Skilled in operating the dry-cleaning machine

Skilled in effectively cleaning the cloth without hampering its quality or losing its colour

Knowledge of different cleaning agents

Knowledge of different parameters of fabrics like colour strength, type of fabric, etc.

Knowledge of appropriate cleaning solutions for different types of fabrics

Basic knowledge of special solvents to remove tough strains

Equipped to examining articles for any defect or damage

India?s textiles sector is one of the mainstays of the national economy. It is also one of the largest contributing sectors of India?s exports contributing 11 per cent to the country?s total exports basket. The textiles industry is labor intensive and is one of the largest employers. The industry realized export earnings worth US$ 41.57 billion in 2013-14. The Indian textiles industry, currently estimated at around US $108 billion, is expected to reach US $ 141 billion by 2021. The Indian government has come up with a number of export promotion policies for the textiles sector. It has also allowed 100 per cent FDI in the Indian textiles sector under the automatic route.

The Indian textiles industry is set for strong growth, buoyed by strong domestic consumption as well as export demand. The textiles sector has witnessed a spurt in investment during the last five years. The industry (including dyed and printed) attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) worth 6,710.94crore (US$ 1.11 billion) during April 2000 to February 2014. This shows that in coming decades a boom can be expected in the sector with immense demand of trained professionals.
