The tasks a Polishing Machine Operator (Mosaic) is expected to perform include:

Operating polishing machine fitted with revolving grinding discs to polish mosaic tiles to high finish

Fitting appropriate grinding (carborandum) bricks to rotating discs of machine

Spreading layer of cement solution of required shade over floor surface and sprinkling the floor area with water

Connecting the machine to power supply and switching on the machine to rotate revolving discs

Running the machine slowly over entire surface of the tile floor to grind and polish it

Repeating sprinkling of cement liquid over surface for settling between tile joints and polishing floor surface again using finer type of grinding stone

Washing the polished surface with water and ensuring the required finish

Removing grinding stone and fitting a felt or cloth pad to machine

Knowledge of changing grinding stones of machine as required

Proficient in sprinkling oxalic acid powder with water over polished surface

Ability to polish a secure glossy finish on the polished surface

Knowledge of cleaning and polishing corners, edges of room with grinding stones

Adapted to oiling and cleaning machine periodically

Ability to perform minor repair of the machine
