The tasks a Sail and Awning Maker is expected to perform include: Fabricating and assembling canvas like material into sails, awning and tarpaulins Laying out full scale drawing on floor according to blue prints or sketches Cutting patterns from paper according to full scale drawing

Sewing sections of material together Installing grommets, metal fittings and fasteners by machine or measures Marking off grommet holes, punching them and sewing galvanized iron rings to edge of holes by hand. Splicing, inserting and hemming manila, wire rope or strong rope in edges to relieve strain

Installing and adjusting completed product according to requirements

Well-versed with different types of patterns for sails and awnings

Ability to estimate cost of sails and awnings

Equipped to take proper measurements

Proficiency in operating sewing machine

Well versed with cutting and trimming of canvas

Ability to handle large pieces of cloth and canvas

Working hours

Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company Shift system maybe available
