Freshers or up to 2 years of work experience as painter in construction industry

The tasks a Painter, General is expected to perform include:

Applying decorative or protective coats of paints, enamel, varnish, lacquer, shellack or other materials on exterior or interior surfaces, trimming and fixtures of glass, metal, wood, building, boards, plaster and other objects using brush, spray, gun, roller, stencils, etc.

Ensuring that the objects gets the desired shade, colour and finishing

Proficient in selecting and mixing paint materials or pigment, oils and other ingredients in proper proportions to obtain desired colour, shade and consistency

Knowledge of operating manual or mechanical mixing devices

Adept in studying work order and selecting correct type of paint materials based on suitability, durability, ease of application and estimated cost

Well-versed in cleaning surfaces with brush, cloth or abrasive material

Proficient in removing dirt, grease or rough spots and irregularities by scrapers, chemicals, etc.

Adept at filling cracks and holes with putty or filler to provide smooth clean surface

Well-versed with raising, draining or wiping coated work area to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on work area

Proficient in covering surface with appropriate prime coats or sealer to have suitable surface for paint

Well-versed with applying one or more coat of paint material to get required finishing

Adept at examininge finished surfaces of work pieces to verify conformance to specifications; and retouching any defective areas

Proficient in decorating or finishing surfaces by gilding, silvering or painting over stencils

Well-versed with erecting scaffolds to facilitate work

Knowledge of inspecting work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required

Overview of Building, Construction and Real Estate Sector in India

Construction Industry plays a major role in the economic growth of a nation and occupies a pivotal position in the nations development plans. Construction industry in India is highly unorganised and employs most labourers, second only to the agriculture sector. Indian construction industry employs more than 45 million people either directly or indirectly and its market size was about INR 7674 Billion in 2012-13. Out of the total industry market size Infrastructure constitutes 40% and real estate contributes the remaining 60%.

Real estate in India is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors and it is expected to expand at a CAGR of 19 percent in the next five years. Indian real estate sector is valued at INR 4551 billion in 2012-13 and is projected to reach INR 13,250 billion by 2023. By 2025 the sector is expected to generate employment for more than 17 million individuals in the country. With over 1000 PPP projects in the country at an estimated project cost of about US $97 billion in the pipeline, infrastructure sector in India is poised for tremendous growth momentum in the years ahead.

Thus with rising urbanization, increase in demand for residential and commercial real estate and rising infrastructure expenditure by government, the market value of construction sector in India is projected to expand up to INR 11954 billion by 2017. It is estimated that sector will employ more than 76 million employees by 2022 an additional creation of 31 million jobs by 2022 out of which 5.44 million jobs will be for profile like painter and other building completion and finishing segments worker.All these factors indicate good job prospects for Painter, General and other professionals.
