Minimum 8th Certified training for Plumber (General) - II (programme aligned to PSC/Q 00 released by Indian Plumbing Skills Council)

3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of minimum educational qualification

The tasks a Plumber (General) - II is expected to perform include: Installing and repairing various sanitary fixtures and fittings

Preparing the site before installation

Performing post installation tests

Following safety and health regulations

In-depth knowledge of relevant materials Working knowledge of various sanitary fittings and fixtures

Detailed knowledge of various procedural techniques like cutting, bending and joining fixtures

Proficiency in detecting leaks and defects

Working knowledge of various tools and equipment like hacksaw, pipe cutter, plier, power drill, etc. Knowledge of basic plumbing terminology

Detailed understanding of the installation procedure

Basic knowledge of units of measurement

Detailed knowledge of manufacturer?s specification relating to equipment and fixtures

Knowledge of how to calculate material requirement

Detailed knowledge of levelling and alignment procedure

Basic knowledge of simple mathematical calculations

Detailed knowledge of how to perform post-installation tests and checks

Previous on-the-job training

Knowledge of Hindi or a regional language

Good communication skills

Willingness to undertake long hours of physically challenging tasks

Team spirit

Decision-making skills

It is a field job Need not lead a team

Local travelling is a very important part of the job

Working hours

Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
