The automobile industry is one of India?s most vibrant and growing industries. This industry accounts for 22 per cent of the country's manufacturing Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The auto sector is one of the biggest job creators, both directly and indirectly. It is estimated that every job created in an auto company leads to three to five indirect ancillary jobs. With the number of vehicles available on the road today, the need and requirement for people who can fix these machines is fast increasing. Careers like automobile technician, or car or bike mechanics are a great option. Becoming a diesel mechanic is also a significant alternative. Diesel mechanics are responsible for repairing and servicing diesel engines. As they are also required to repair engines of trucks and buses, other than cars, they are provided with hefty wages. Future Trends of Automotive Sector in India

By 2016, India would emerge as the world?s seventh largest car producer (as compared to the eleventh largest currently) and retain the 4th largest position in the world truck manufacturing sector. Further, by 2016, the automotive sector would double its contribution to the country?s GDP from the current levels of 5% to 10%. The share of industry in GDP is expected to go up to around 35% from current level of 24% by 2016. This means there will be an increase in job opportunities for Sales Executives.
