The tasks a Health, Safety and Environment Officer is expected to perform include:

Applying theory and principles of environmental engineering and occupational health and safety at the work site to ensure a safe and healthy working environment

Protecting the surrounding environment that maybe impacted by the pollutants and other hazardous substances

Improving employee relations and productivity

Minimizing business risk through the identification and elimination/minimization of environmental, health and safety risks

Proficiency in choosing the places to gather the required samples and information

In depth knowledge to conduct required tests and experiments

Proficiency in using technology to produce the work products

In depth knowledge related to the various diseases and harmful effects of pollutants

Ability to analyze, interpret and present the results to the concerned audience

Ability to evaluate the effectiveness or performance of procedures, interventions, and programs.
