Power Generation in India

Electrical load dispatching started in India ever since interconnected systems began to operate within the state power systems. Presently the power system in the country is demarcated into five regional grids and all the states and union territories in India fall into one of these regional grids. The electricity generation target for the year 2014-2015 was fixed as 1023 Billion Unit (BU) i.e. growth of around 5.77% over actual generation of 967.150 for the previous year (2013-2014). The generation during April-January, 2015 was 880.681 BU as compared to 805.838 BU generated during April- January 2014, representing a growth of about 9.29%.

With the growth in electricity generation, the importance of Load Dispatcher has also increased and the job prospects for this job role are improving.
