Fire Fighting Officer

Minimum 12th pass and Divisional Officer?s Course from the National Fire Service College or from CISF Fire Training Centre/Graduate/Associate Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers, India

Minimum 12 years of experience required

The tasks a Fire Officer is expected to perform include:

Directing firefighting and rescue operations

Training firefighting personnel

Maintaining firefighting appliances and equipment in operational condition

Studying fire report and address from Fireman on watch

Deciding nature of operation and proceeding on fire fighting vehicle to the scene of fire with required number of firefighting personnel and equipment

Assessing intensity of fire and rescue operations required and deploying men and equipment for its control

Cordoning off area and directing operations to extinguish fire with water or chemicals or use of portable fire extinguisher, as appropriate

Ordering demolition of any part of building and structures to prevent further spread of fire

Arranging and aiding rescue operations to rescue entrapped men, animals, property and to render first aid to injured

Investigating causes of fire and arson and submitting report, as required

Performing other services during emergencies or natural calamities where specialised equipment is useful such as rescuing people in danger of flood, storm, manning hoses to control rioters and extricating persons or animals from places not easily accessible

Skilled in assessing the conditions of the place of fire and acting accordingly

Skilled in guiding and motivating the firefighting team

Knowledge of all the firefighting equipment

Ability to keep the equipment ready all the time

Ability to seize the area and not letting any civilians go through

Skilled in investigating the cause of fire

Maintain a valid heavy vehicle driving license
