The tasks a Psychologist, Engineering is expected to perform include:

Conducting research, development, application and evaluation of psychological principles relating to human behaviour

Collaborating with equipment designers in design, development and utilization of man-machine systems to obtain optimum efficiency in terms of human capabilities

Advising on human factors to be considered in the design of man-machine systems, military equipment and industrial products

Participating in solving problems such as determining numbers and the kinds of workers required to operate machines, the allocation of functions to machines and operators and the layout and arrangement of work sites

Analyzing jobs to establish requirements for use in the classification, selection, placement and training of personnel

Developing training methods and materials, such as curriculums, lectures and films

Preparing handbooks of human engineering data for use by equipment and system designers

Conducting research to develop psychological theories concerning subjects such as the effects of physical factors (temperature, humidity, vibration, noise, and illumination) on a worker's behaviour

Knowledge of human behaviour and performance

Ability to assess human behaviour in relation to machines and tools used on a regular basis

Knowledge of the assessment and treatment of behavioural and affective disorders

Knowledge of the level of training methods to be prepared

Knowledge of physical conditions and factors that may affect the efficiency of a worker

Skilled in conducting research and preparing a thesis on the same

Knowledge of the technical information required to prepare handbooks and manuals
